ASUS Rep Confirms “Nexus 7”

There has been plenty of talk in the industry about an upcoming Google tablet. With Google entrenched in the smartphone industry with their popular Nexus phones, it’s not a far reach to think that they would extend the same efforts to developing a Nexus Tablet. At the COMPUTEX conference in Taiwan, an ASUS representative confirmed that ASUS is indeed partnering with Google to create a Nexus tablet. The rep went on to say that the Nexus Tablet will be here by the end of June.

Google’s tablet is presumably being called the “Nexus 7″ due to it’s 7” display. It will reportedly be powered by Nvidia’s quad core Tegra 3 chip which can also be found in the ASUS Transformer Prime. Pricing for the tablet is thought to fall somewhere between $150 – $250. If all of these points turn out to be more than fiction,  then it would seem that Google is looking to gain a foothold in the small tablet division currently dominated by the Kindle Fire. Increased competition always leads to better products for the consumer so we can eagerly look forward to the unveiling of Google’s Nexus tablet.
